How long does an LMIA take in 2026?

Standard LMIAs take roughly 2-6 months at ESDC depending on stream and region; Global Talent Stream LMIAs are processed in approximately 10 business days.

Do we need an LMIA to transfer an executive from our parent company?

Often no. Intra-Company Transfers under R205(a) and the CUSMA ICT category are LMIA-exempt for qualifying executives, managers, and specialized-knowledge workers from a related foreign entity.

Start-Up Visa or C11 for a solo founder?

Start-Up Visa requires a designated organization and grants permanent residence. C11 is a temporary work permit under the significant-benefit framework, faster to obtain but does not directly grant PR.

Do not destroy or alter records. Acknowledge the notice in writing, calendar the production deadline, and engage counsel before responding.
