HK Pathway Overview

Federal IRCC offers specific pathways for Hong Kong residents under Public Policy initiated 2021. Two main programs: HK Open Work Permit + HK PR Streams A & B.

HK Open Work Permit

  • Open work permit (any employer, any occupation)
  • Up to 3 years duration
  • Eligibility: HK Special Administrative Region passport, graduated from Canadian or recognized international post-secondary in last 10 years
  • Spouse and dependent children can be included
  • Processing 4-6 weeks

HK PR Stream A — Canadian Graduates

  • Graduated from Canadian post-secondary in last 3 years
  • HK SAR passport holder
  • CLB 5+ language
  • Settlement funds CAD 14,690+
  • No work experience required
  • Processing 6-12 months

HK PR Stream B — Work Experience

  • 1+ year Canadian work experience (under HK Open Work Permit acceptable)
  • HK SAR passport holder
  • CLB 5+ language
  • Post-secondary credentials
  • Settlement funds CAD 14,690+
  • Processing 6-12 months
