Toronto’s Cross-Border & Chinese-Speaking Immigration Law Firm
BridgePoint Law serves Toronto from our office in First Canadian Place, at the heart of the downtown financial core. Founded and led by Dr. Ningjing (Natalie) Zhang — a refugee-turned-lawyer with a PhD, called to the Ontario bar, and fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English — we offer Toronto’s GTA community full legal representation, not just consultation, across immigration, refugee, real estate, and corporate law.
Whether you are sponsoring family, defending a refugee claim, preparing an Express Entry application, dealing with a refusal at the IAD, or seeking judicial review at the Federal Court of Canada, we are equipped to handle your case from intake through trial or hearing.

Why Toronto Clients Choose BridgePoint Law
Licensed Lawyers — Not Consultants
We are licensed lawyers of the Law Society of Ontario, which means we can represent you before all federal tribunals, the Federal Court of Canada, and any court in Ontario. Immigration consultants (RCICs) and paralegals cannot. When your case involves an appeal, a judicial review, criminal-immigration consequences, or a refused application, retain a lawyer.
Mandarin, Cantonese, and English — Native Fluency
Toronto is home to one of the world’s largest Chinese diaspora communities. Dr. Zhang speaks Mandarin and Cantonese as native languages and Chinese is the working language at our firm — not just an “available service.” We take instructions, draft submissions, conduct interviews, and represent clients at hearings in Chinese.
Refugee Law and Federal Court Litigation
We have extensive experience with refugee claims at the RPD, appeals at the RAD, judicial reviews at the Federal Court of Canada, Pre-Removal Risk Assessments (PRRA), and Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) applications. We represent claimants from China, Hong Kong, Iran, Afghanistan, Eritrea, and other countries with complex conditions.
Cross-Border Canada–U.S.–China Capability
Our Toronto, Kingston, and Shanghai offices give us a genuine cross-border practice. We coordinate with U.S. immigration counsel on TN, L-1, E-2, EB-5, and H-1B matters, and we handle China-related legal matters including succession, commercial disputes, and family law issues that span the Pacific.

Frequently Asked Questions — Toronto Clients
Do I need a Toronto immigration lawyer, or can I use a consultant?
Hire a lawyer if your case involves any of the following: a previous refusal, criminal history, medical inadmissibility, misrepresentation allegations, a removal order, complex family relationships, refugee protection, or any appeal or judicial review. Lawyers are the only professionals who can represent you in Federal Court and provide a privileged legal opinion. Consultants are typically used for straightforward visitor or study permit applications without complications.
How much does an immigration lawyer in Toronto cost?
Our fees vary by case type and complexity. Express Entry preparation typically ranges from $2,500 to $5,000 plus government fees. Spousal sponsorship ranges from $3,500 to $6,000. Federal Court judicial review starts around $10,000. Refugee hearings range from $5,000 to $15,000 depending on complexity. We offer fixed-fee retainers for most matters and discuss fees transparently at the initial consultation — no surprise bills.
Do you speak Mandarin and Cantonese?
Yes. Dr. Zhang is a native speaker of both Mandarin and Cantonese, in addition to English. Chinese is a working language at our firm. We take instructions, prepare submissions, and represent clients at IRB hearings and Federal Court in Chinese.
Where do you handle IRB hearings in Toronto?
Toronto IRB hearings are held at 74 Victoria Street (between Yonge and Bay, north of Queen Street). We regularly appear at the RPD, RAD, IAD, and the Immigration Division for detention reviews. Most hearings are now hybrid (in-person or video).
Can you represent me if I’m outside Toronto?
Yes. Immigration law is federal jurisdiction. Our clients are across Canada and around the world. Most matters can be handled by video consultation. We also have offices in Kingston (HQ) and Shanghai, plus a multilingual team that serves clients in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, French, Korean, Japanese, and Arabic.
What makes BridgePoint Law different from other Toronto immigration firms?
Three things: (1) Dr. Zhang is a refugee-turned-lawyer with a PhD — she has lived the immigration experience and brings academic rigour to legal analysis. (2) We are truly trilingual (Mandarin, Cantonese, English) at the lawyer level, not “translator available.” (3) Our cross-border Canada–U.S.–China practice handles cases that single-jurisdiction firms cannot.
How quickly can I book a Toronto consultation?
Most consultations can be scheduled within 3–5 business days. For urgent matters — detention, removal orders, deadline-driven appeals — we accommodate same-week appointments. Call (613) 417-1850 or email info@bridgepointlaw.ca.
