Kingston’s Cross-Border Immigration Law Firm
BridgePoint Law is Kingston’s bilingual immigration law firm, founded and led by Dr. Ningjing (Natalie) Zhang — a refugee-turned-lawyer with a PhD, called to the Ontario bar, and fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. Our headquarters office at 221 Queen Street, Sanctuary serves clients across Kingston, Eastern Ontario, and nationally before the Federal Court of Canada.
Whether you are preparing an Express Entry application, defending a refugee claim, sponsoring your spouse, or fighting a refusal at the IAD or Federal Court, we provide full legal representation — not just consultation — anchored by years of immigration and refugee law experience.
Why Kingston Clients Choose BridgePoint Law
Licensed Lawyers, Not Just Consultants
Unlike immigration consultants or paralegals, we are licensed lawyers admitted to the Law Society of Ontario. We can represent you in court, before the Immigration and Refugee Board, and at the Federal Court of Canada — anywhere your case demands legal advocacy beyond paperwork.
Truly Trilingual Service
Dr. Zhang speaks Mandarin and Cantonese as native languages, in addition to English. Our team can take instructions, prepare submissions, and represent clients in any of these three languages — a critical advantage for Kingston’s growing newcomer community and Queen’s University international students from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Refugee Law and Federal Court Experience
We handle complex refugee claims at the RPD, appeals at the RAD, judicial reviews at the Federal Court of Canada in Ottawa, and Pre-Removal Risk Assessments (PRRA). Our litigation experience gives us a unique perspective when preparing applications — we know what evidence holds up under cross-examination.
Community-Rooted in Kingston
Dr. Zhang was recognized with the 2026 Kingston Newcomer Entrepreneur Award, presented jointly by Kingston Economic Development Corporation and the Kingston Immigration Partnership (KCHC). We are deeply invested in helping newcomers build their futures in our city.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a lawyer for my Kingston immigration application?
While not every application requires legal representation, you should strongly consider a lawyer if your case involves: a previous refusal, criminal history, medical inadmissibility, misrepresentation concerns, complex family circumstances, refugee protection, or any appeal or judicial review. Lawyers are the only professionals who can represent you in court and before all federal tribunals.
How much does an immigration lawyer in Kingston cost?
Our fees vary by case type. Express Entry preparation typically ranges from $2,500 to $5,000 plus government fees. Spousal sponsorship is generally $3,500 to $6,000. Federal Court judicial review can run $10,000+. We offer fixed-fee retainers for most matters so you know the cost upfront, and we discuss fees transparently in the initial consultation.
Do you speak Mandarin or Cantonese?
Yes. Dr. Zhang is a native speaker of both Mandarin and Cantonese. We regularly serve Kingston’s Chinese community and Queen’s University international students from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Can you represent clients outside of Kingston?
Yes. Immigration and refugee law is federal jurisdiction. We represent clients across Canada, with our two Ontario offices in Kingston and Toronto, plus a Shanghai office for clients in China. Most immigration consultations and meetings can be conducted by video call.
What’s the difference between a lawyer, a paralegal, and an immigration consultant?
Only lawyers can provide the full scope of legal services — including court representation, judicial review, and complex legal analysis. Paralegals are licensed by the Law Society but limited in scope. Immigration consultants (RCICs) can prepare applications but cannot represent you in court or provide legal opinions on complex issues. For high-stakes matters, retain a lawyer.
How quickly can I book a consultation?
Most consultations can be scheduled within 3–5 business days. For urgent matters (detention, removal orders, looming deadlines), we accommodate same-week appointments. Call (613) 417-1850 or email info@bridgepointlaw.ca.
